Group formats cost far less per person, and splitting a lesson is how most people make coaching affordable. Our own numbers are below, because a cost article from a coach who hides his prices wouldn’t be worth your click.
What lessons cost, format by format
- Private (1-on-1): the premium format, where every minute of coaching is about your game. National averages run $50–$100 an hour; tournament-prep specialists charge more.
- Semi-private (2 players): ours is $80/hr total, which is $40 each. Bringing one friend is the biggest price lever in coaching.
- Group of four: $120/hr total, so $30 a person. That’s close to drop-in-class money, with far more individual attention than any class.
- Two-coach sessions: adding a second coach is a flat $40/hr on top of the group rate. Four players with two coaches means two-player drill groups and roughly double the reps.

What drives the price
Three things, mostly. Format: more players means cheaper per person. Length: our 90-minute and 2-hour rates prorate down, so longer sessions cost less per minute. And travel: lessons at Fircrest Park or Harry Todd Park are included, while anywhere else in the South Sound (Gig Harbor, Puyallup, University Place) adds a flat travel fee set by distance, shown before you confirm.
Ways to pay less
Bring a partner or three; $40 or $30 a person beats any solo rate. Use the new-client discount: $10 off an hour, $15 off 90 minutes, $20 off two hours on your first lesson with us. And book longer, less often. A 90-minute session every two weeks usually beats weekly 60s on both price and progress, because you get time to drill what stuck.
Is it worth it compared to free YouTube?
