Lacey has more good public pickleball than most cities twice its size, and Rainier Vista Community Park is the anchor. The court-finder sites credit Rainier Vista with as many as twenty hard courts; the six with permanent lines nearest the basketball courts are where the drop-in rotation lives. Free, first-come, and busy enough that you will always find games.
Rainier Vista and the club
Organized play runs through the Thurston County Pickleball Club, which schedules sessions at Rainier Vista and around the county. As of this writing the calendar is active most days of the week; check tcpcwa.com before you drive over, because arriving mid-session as a stranger is how you end up watching from the fence. Paying whatever the club asks for a session is also the fastest route into the local community. That is true of club play everywhere, and Lacey’s club is a well-run version of it.

Wonderwood Park has tennis courts with blended pickleball lines; bring your own net and share politely with the tennis players, who have first claim. For the wet months, Lacey has its own indoor club, 23 Kitchens. Schedules and pricing at both move around, so check current calendars rather than trusting an app.
Lessons: the part Lacey is short on
Lacey’s court supply beats its coaching supply. That is the honest gap in an otherwise excellent scene, and it is the reason we put Lacey on our map at all: we are Tacoma coaches, and Harry Todd Park in Lakewood sits about 25 minutes up I-5 from most Lacey addresses. Its permanent-net courts make it the closest year-round coaching venue to Thurston County, and a lesson there runs at standard rates with no travel fee.
