Parks Tacoma’s fall 2026 indoor pickleball schedule runs August 31 through December 31 at four gyms: the Center at Norpoint, Eastside Community Center, People’s Community Center, and the Boys & Girls Club gym next to the STAR Center. Drop-in is $10 a session, free for Grit City Gherkins members, and no reservation is needed. The grid below is checked against Parks Tacoma’s drop-in pickleball page and its printed flyer as of September 14. Closures could move, so glance at that page the morning you go.
Every session, Monday to Sunday
Norpoint (3 courts) Eastside (3 courts) People's (3 courts) STAR Center† (6 courts)
*Second Fridays 1–3pm are women’s only and third Fridays 1–3pm are men’s only. The printed flyer puts those blocks on Fridays; the online grid files them under Mondays. I’d trust the flyer, but confirm before you drive to Norpoint for one.
†“STAR Center” on the flyer means the Boys & Girls Club gym next door (3875 S 66th St), not the STAR Center itself. The entrance is around the back, by the soccer field.
What the labels mean
“Rec” is open to anyone and runs on a paddle queue when the courts fill. “Advanced” is self-selected, which means it works exactly as well as the people in the room let it; if you’re a solid 3.5 and unsure whether you belong, the ratings post settles it. “Drills” is the flyer’s “skills and drills” block: practice time rather than games. Parks Tacoma doesn’t say who runs it or how structured it is, so ask the front desk before you count on coaching. Parks Tacoma describes Norpoint as the advanced players’ gym, People’s as the beginners’ gym, and Eastside as the one for every level. Norpoint and People’s have a ball machine when a court is free. Paddles and balls are available at every session, so the only thing you need to bring is court shoes. The STAR Center (the Boys & Girls Club gym next door) has six taped courts, twice any other venue, and its evening slate is the only one that runs past 8pm, which makes it the venue for anyone who works days.
Closures worth planning around
Every gym is dark Thanksgiving Wednesday through Saturday (November 25 to 28), December 24 to 26, and December 31. The rest, from Parks Tacoma’s closures list as of September 2:
- Norpoint: September 21 to 26, November 11, December 5 and 18.
- Eastside: October 15 runs short hours, 11am to 1pm.
- People’s: October 14, short hours October 15, November 2 to 6, November 11 and 23.
- STAR Center: October 3, 4, 9, 10 and 23, November 11, and December 21 through January 3. The printed flyer shows a shorter list for this gym, so the website is the fresher source.
On days with adjusted hours, Parks Tacoma says to email noah.steele@tacomaparks.com to find out what’s open.
Should you pay per session?
Two visits a month at $10 is $20. The Gherkins club is $25 a month or $200 a year and makes every session above free, so the math flips at three visits; current rates are on the membership page. The indoor winter guide covers where these gyms fit against the YMCAs, Sprinker, and The Drop.
What drop-in can’t do is fix a stroke. Rec play reinforces whatever you walked in with. If you’re spending the winter in these gyms anyway, one lesson in October gives you something specific to practice for the other twelve weeks. The lines outside stay painted all winter too; the courts guide has the list.
